Omaha Beach’s first crop of 2-year-olds are getting a tremendous response this auction season, and Tuesday at OBS was no exception when his first offering brought a top bid of $375,000.

Consigned by Off the Hook, LLC, agent, hip No. 77 went to the duo of Maverick Racing and Siena Farms LLC.

The filly turned in a lively 10-second flat work at the Under Tack show.

The chestnut juvenile hails from the Giant’s Causeway mare Belatrix, who has produced a pair of winners from as many starters.

Belatrix is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Dogtag. The deep female family is headlined by third dam Helsinki (GB), who is a sister to Grade 1 winner and noted sire Street Cry (Ire). Helsinki is also the dam of English champion and Group 1 winner Shamardal.

Entering this week’s auction Omaha Beach led all First-Crop sires by 2-year-old sales average, at $326,000, more than $100,000 higher than any other freshman sire. He also led last year’s First-Crop yearling sires with an average of $201,689.
