The first two days of the marathon Keeneland September Yearling sale saw no less than seven individuals by leading sire Into Mischief bring at least $500,000, topped by a $950,000 colt purchased by Oxo Equine during Monday’s opening session.

Hip No. 71, a beautifully-bred bay juvenile consigned by Gainesway, agent for Bonne Chance Farm, is out of the Canadian Horse of the Year and multiple champion Sealy Hill. She has been a brilliant producer as well, with champion female sprinter Hillaby, recent Del Mar Oaks (G1) winner Cambier Parc, and graded stakes winners Belle Hill and Gale Force among her offspring.

Oxo Equine was also the winning bidder, at $750,000, on hip No. 28, a colt consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency. The colt is out of the graded stakes-placed Distorted Humor mare Poof Too and is from the family of Grade 1 winner Bluegrass Cat, runner-up in the Kentucky Derby (G1).

Into Mischief’s top filly the first two days also brought $750,000. Consigned by Paramount Sales, agent, hip No. 349 went to Bill Rucker, JCE Racing/Travis Durr. The filly’s stakes-winning dam Defy Gravity is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Callback and from the immediate family of Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Super Saver.

Through the first two days of the Sept. 9-22 auction, Into Mischief has had 16 lots sell for an average of $453,750.
