One day after Kopion took the Grade 1 Derby City Distaff at Churchill Downs on Derby Day, On Command gave Omaha Beach his second stakes winner of the weekend with a front-running score in the $150,000 License Fee S. at Aqueduct.

The 4-year-old filly was making her stakes debut following a sharp allowance score March 22 on Aqueduct’s main track. Switched back to the turf for the first time since last August, On Command was swift out of the gate and opened up a one-length lead in the first quarter-mile. She widened that margin to 2 ½-lengths by the time she got to the head of the stretch, then held off a mild late challenge by Time to Dazzle to win by 1 ½-lengths in 1:07.65 for the six furlongs on a firm turf course.

“We talked about it before the race,” said trainer Amelia Green, who also got her first stakes win with the victory. “She had a good post being on the outside, so she could do whatever she needed to. If someone else wanted it, we had the plan to just sit on their quarter and use their lead. But two horses broke in front of her, and they took back and didn’t want it, so Katie [Davis] rode a great race and took the lead–they couldn’t catch her.”

On Command is 3-2-4 in 13 starts and has earned $260,633 for Lucky Hat Racing LLC and V Hop Racing. The dark bay filly was bred in Kentucky by Peter Blum Thoroughbreds, LLC.
