Bring Theband Home, Coppola score Fourth of July stakes double for Into Mischief
July 4, 2025

Into Mischief tallied a pair of stakes winners on Independence Day, with Bring Theband Home getting his first added-money win in the $150,000 Harvey Pack S. and the veteran Coppola setting a track record in the $100,000 William Garrett H. at Horseshoe Indianapolis.
Bring Theband Home, who had made just one stakes start prior to Friday, turned in a sterling front-running effort in the 5 ½-furlong turf affair. The 5-year-old got away from the gate the fastest of 11 and never looked back, powering through the stretch to win by 4 ¼-lengths in a lightning-quick :59.90 on the firm turf.
The time was just one-tenth of a second off the track record and earned a 109 Beyer Speed Figure.
“It was really good,” said jockey Javier Castellano. “He’s a very fast horse. He breaks pretty quick out of the gate and is a very unique horse and I liked the way he did it. I know the fractions went in twenty-one seconds but the way he does it, he’s a speed horse and he carried it all the way to the wire.”
The Live Oak Plantation homebred is now 5-3-1 in 12 starts and has earned $341,764.
Coppola, another very talented turf sprinter did set a track record in the Garrett, a race he also won last year. Also a free-running type, Coppola set all the fractions, ultimately winning by two lengths in :54.39 for the five furlongs on the turf.
“The track was perfect for him today,” said winning rider Vincent Cheminaud. “I had only one goal and that was to take him to the lead. He was very easy on the bit, and I was confident coming into the race. The track was very fast today but this horse deserves it (track record).”
Now a six-time stakes winner, Coppola has a record of 11-1-3 in 33 starts, with earnings of $947,686 for owners Hammer Time Stable and S.O.K. Racing. The 6-year-old was bred by Fifth Avenue Bloodstock.
