Into Mischief’s Leslie’s Rose very sharp in Shuvee S. (G2) victory
July 18, 2025

Leslie’s Rose rolled to a 3 ¾-length victory in the $200,000 Shuvee S. (G2) July 18 at Saratoga, giving the 4-year-old daughter of Into Mischief her first graded stakes win since capturing the 2024 Ashland S. (G1).
A former TDN Rising Star, Leslie’s Rose has competed exclusively in graded company since her third lifetime start, early in 2024. She is the 10th graded stakes winner of 2025 for Into Mischief.
Leslie’s Rose got a good stalking trip under Irad Ortiz, Jr., following a couple of lengths behind pacesetter Dazzling Move who set even fractions through six furlongs, which went in 1:11.78. Leslie’s Rose moved off the rail at the quarter pole to take aim on Dazzling Move. Leslie’s Rose got the lead with about a sixteenth to go, then pulled away for the clear-cut win.
“She doesn’t care for sloppy conditions and unfortunately we caught those last time–it literally started raining on the way to the paddock, and it was the same thing in the Kentucky Oaks,” said Todd Pletcher. “We cross-entered today [in the GIII Molly Pitcher] hoping to catch a fast track either here or at Monmouth and it worked out.”
Leslie’s Rose is now 4-1-2 in 10 starts and has earned $743,800 for Whisper Hill Farm LLC. She was purchased by her owner for $1.15 million at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
Bred by John D. Gunther & Eurowest Bloodstock Services, Leslie’s Rose is out of Wildwood Rose (IRE), who is a half-sister to Florida Derby (G1) winner Materiality and Gazelle S. (G2) winner My Miss Sophia.
