Bottle Of Rouge stamped herself as the top California juvenile filly after an impressive victory in the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante on September 6th.

Natalie 'Jill' Baffert's Bottle of Rouge and hall of fame jockey Mike Smith beat favored stablemate Explora (Juan Hernandez up) in the Grade I $300,000 Del Mar Debutante Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, Del Mar, CA. The daughter of Vino Rosso now has two wins in three starts, coming second on debut before breaking her maiden in her second start by 6 3/4 lengths last month at Del Mar for trainer Bob Baffert and owner Natalie Baffert.

Ridden by jockey Mike Smith, Bottle Of Rouge stalked the field in the Del Mar Debutante, made her move going around the turn, and dueled to the finish against the favored Explora and pulled away by a length. She ran the 7 furlong race in a final time of 1:23.05.

Bred in Kentucky by Kathie Maybee, Bottle Of Rouge is by the 2019 Breeders’ Cup Classic Champion Vino Rosso and is out of the Bluegrass Cat mare Blues Corner. Blues Corner produced a full sister to Bottle Of Rouge in 2024 and a Yaupon filly in 2025.

Vino Rosso is a top 5 3rd-Crop sire and is tied for the most Grade 1 winners in his group.
