September 14, 2025

Into Mischief’s Whiskey Decision got her second stakes win of the summer Sunday at Aqueduct with a flying finish to win the $150,000 Athenia S.

The 4-year-old turf specialist took the Eatontown S. (G3) in June and also won the Christiana S. last year at Delaware Park.

In the 1 1/8-mile Athenia, Whiskey Decision sat several lengths off a relatively soft pace of :48.01 and 1:13.03 set by Spinning Colors. As the field turned for home, Whiskey Decision move from the rail to the middle of the course for clear running. She responded with a rush and took the lead inside the final sixteenth to win by 1 ¼-lengths in 1:48.60 over the firm turf.

“I figured there would be some pace–at least the first quarter–but she got herself into the race and I was able to get her down the fence and I thought I was behind good horses,” said jockey Flavien Prat. “I was happy where I was. It felt like the whole way around we kind of slowed it down, but when I was able to tip her out, she gave me a good run.”

Whiskey Decision has won five of her 10 lifetime starts and earne $406,387 for the owner/breeder duo of Fred W. Hertrich III & John D. Fielding.
