Into Mischief’s Gallivant breaks maiden with authority in Keeneland’s Bowman Mill S.

Gallivant became the 183^rd lifetime stakes winner for Into Mischief Saturday at Keeneland with his six-length victory in the $250,000 Bowman Mill S.

The 2-year-old colt, who was a close third in his Oct. 4 debut at Keeneland, was a no-doubt-about-it winner in Saturday’s six-furlong contest that had just four runners. The bay colt was last for the first half mile, biding his time until an opening appeared. At the top of the stretch, he swung out around pacesetter Spun D M C and went by him easily, opening up late to win in a hand ride.

“He ran really well first time out,” said winning trainer Ben Colebrook. “He got beat by a monster in (trainer Todd Pletcher’s horse Local Knowledge. So I was happy with the way he ran. The owners (LNJ Foxwoods) have the dam (Fancy Dress Party), so any time you can get black type, it’s a big deal. We’re excited, and he really showed his stuff today.”

Gallivant has earned $165,037 in his two starts. He is the third foal out of his aforementioned dam, who won Keeneland’s Beaumont S. (G3) and a pair of listed events.

Now with 22 stakes winners this year, Into Mischief has $26.8 million in progeny earnings to date.
