Goldencents’ Mystik Dan looks to emulate his sire in Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1)

October 30, 2025

Mystik Dan, winner of the 2024 Kentucky Derby (G1), drew post four in Saturday’s $1 million Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1), a race his sire Goldencents won back-to-back in 2013-2014.

Mystik Dan comes into Saturday’s race off a gallant victory in the Sept. 27 Lukas Classic S. (G2) at Churchill Downs, the fourth graded stakes win of the 4-year-old’s career.

Owned by Lance Gasaway, 4 G Racing LLC, D. Hamby III and Valley View Farm LLC, Mystik Dan has earned $4,819,160, making him Goldencents’ lifetime leading earner.

In 2025, Goldencents has accounted for 18 stakes horses, including two Grade 1 winners. His progeny earnings are just under $9 million, ranking in the top-20 nationally. Goldencents will stand for $10,000 live foal in 2026.

The Dirt Mile drew a field of 10. Mystik Dan will be ridden by Francisco Arrieta, who was aboard in the Lukas. The Dirt Mile is race 11, with a post time of 7:45 pm ET.
