Tamara carries Breeders’ Cup banner for Bolt d’Oro
October 30, 2025
Spendthrift Farm’s homebred Bolt d’Oro filly Tamara drew post four in Saturday’s $1 million Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1) at Del Mar.
The 4-year-old filly certainly has affinity for the Del Mar surface, breaking her maiden and winning the Del Mar Debutante S. (G1) in 2023.
Out of Spendthrift’s incomparable champion Beholder, Tamara has made one start this year, and looked very sharp, winning the Oct. 4 Chillingworth S. (G3) at Santa Anita Park. Her overall record is 3-1-0 in five starts.
In Saturday’s seven-furlong race, Tamara is part of a field of 10 and will be ridden by Mike Smith for trainer Richard Mandella, who also trained Beholder.
The Filly & Mare Sprint is race 4, with a post time of 3 pm ET.
Tamara is one of Bolt d’Oro’s 10 stakes winners in 2025, and was recently joined by the very exciting 2-year-old colt Incredibolt, winner of the Street Sense S. (G3) Sunday at Churchill Downs.
