$700,000 filly for Yaupon Wednesday at OBS sale

Yaupon’s hip No. 437 was one of the highlights of Wednesday’s session of the OBS March 2-year-old sale, selling for $700,000 to be one of the top 3 fillies of the session and Yaupon’s top-priced juvenile early in the 2-year-old auction season.
Consigned by de Meric Sales, agent and bred by Hill ‘n’ Dale Equine Holdings & Joe Klausa, the filly was acquired by Morplay Racing LLC/Marquee Bloodstock.
The Kentucky-bred, who had breezed a furlong in a swift :09 4/5 seconds during the Under Tack show, is the first foal out of the Candy Ride (ARG) mare Tempered, who herself is a half-sister to Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G2) runner-up Cowan. This is also the family of champions Groovy and Boston Harbor.
Yaupon was the champion First-Crop sire of 2025 and leads all Second-Crop sires this year by stakes horses and graded stakes horses. His 2026 fee is $60,000 S&N.
