Yaupon filly rockets to first stake win in Oaklawn’s Purple Martin S.

Goodall flew past pacesetter You’re In Heaven on her way to a dominating victory in Saturday’s Purple Martin S. at Oaklawn Park to become the latest stakes winner for Yaupon.

Coming off a Feb. 14 maiden win at Fair Grounds, Goodall tracked a very fast pace set by You’re In Heaven, who zipped through a quarter-mile in :21.53 and a half in :44.70. At that point Goodall had a full head of steam an rolled to the front, then was full of run in the stretch to win by 4 ½-lengths in 1:08.78, just a second off the track record.

Goodall is now 2-1-0 in three starts and has earned $136,500 for Spendthrift Farm, LLC, who acquired the bay filly for $525,000 a the 2025 OBS Spring 2-year-olds in Training sale. She was bred in Kentucky by Mark Allen Toothaker, William Heiligbrodt & Corrine Heiligbrodt.

Yaupon, last year’s champion Freshman Sire, is this year’s leading Second-Crop sire by stakes horses, graded stakes horses and winners.
