Slay the Day earned her first black type win and set a stakes record in the process while winning the $350,000 Limestone S. (G3) April 10 at Keeneland, defeating Sapphire Beach (IRE) and last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1) Cy Fair in a three-horse photo finish.

Slay the Day is the 99th lifetime graded stakes winner for Into Mischief and the seven-time champion sire’s 196th overall stakes winner.

Slay the Day, who made her turf debut on March 6 at Gulfstream Park, winning a five-furlong allowance contest by four lengths. In Friday’s 5 ½-furlong sprint, Slay the Day and Cy Fair were away best, with Cy Fair holding a slight edge down the backstretch and around the turn. Coming into the stretch, the duo were on nearly even terms and stayed that way until inside the final furlong , when Slay the Day began to edge clear. She held off a late charge by Sapphire Beach to win by a neck in 1:01.99 on the firm turf.

“She touted herself all week, that she was doing well, and when we saddled her she never turned a hair,” trainer Brian Lynch said. “She took everything in her stride here. We’re just so thrilled that she’s doing what she’s doing and she’s found her surface. She’s a beautifully bred filly and now she’s a Grade III winner.”

Slay the Day, who is now 3-1-0 in five starts and has earned $337,238, is owned by Flying Dutchmen Breeding and Racing LLC. The bay filly was bred in Kentucky by Pin Oak Stud, LLC and sold to her owners for $170,000 at the 2024 Keeneland September sale.
