Shred the Gnar’s one-length victory in Friday’s $1 million La Troienne S. (G1) made the 4-year-old the 31st lifetime Grade 1 winner for seven-time champion sire Into Mischief.

Shred the Gnar is also undefeated in three starts at Churchill Downs, including a win in the Chilukki S. (G3) last autumn.

Prominent from the outset, Shred the Gnar tracked in second just behind Miss Justify through fractions of :48.54 and 1:12.36. She took over the lead approaching the quarter pole and was set down for the drive by jockey Luis Saez. Fully Subscribed was also charging hard to mount a serious challenge for the win. She got within a half-length of Shred the Gnar before the eventual winner pulled away again late to stop the timer in 1:42.24 for the 1 1/16-miles on a fast track.

“It’s a really good way to celebrate a birthday with a Grade One,” said winning trainer Brian Lynch. “She didn’t handle things well at Gulfstream Park but once we got her back here to Churchill she returned to the filly we knew she always was. She really touted herself coming into this race that she’d run a big race.”

Owned by Flying Dutchmen Breeding and Racing LLC, Shred the Gnar is now 4-1-0 in six starts and has earned $904,010. The bay filly was bred in Kentucky by Camas Park Stud & Lynch Bages LTD and sold for $610,000 at the 2023 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select sale.

Pedigree Notes from the TDN:

Into Mischief continues his stellar run atop the stallion standings and picks up his fourth Grade One winner of 2026 here with Shred the Gnar joining Renegade, Commandment and Eclatant. A $610,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga grad, Shred the Gnar is a full-sister to MGSW/MGISP Owendale who banked more than $1.5 million.
