Regally-bred Into Mischief colt earns TDN ‘Rising Star’ at Belmont Park

Collado Hueco separated himself from the field at the top of the Belmont Park stretch on his way to a 6 ¾-length maiden special weight win Sept. 20.
Named a TDN ‘Rising Star’ after the tour de force, Collado Hueco is the 73rd such-named for Into Mischief.
Collado Hueco, named after breeder/owner Peter Brant’s home in south Florida, tracked a few lengths from the front as longshot Sorrentino led the field through opening fractions of :23.67 and :47.15. After six furlongs in 1:11.66 the pacesetter began to give way, with Collado Hueco only a head behind while three-wide. Given his cue at the top of the stretch, Collado Hueco rocketed clear and coasted home the easiest of winners in 1:41.07 for the 1 1/16-miles on a muddy track.
Collado Hueco also earned a stellar 98 Beyer Speed Figure for the win.
The winner is the first foal out of Dunbar Road, winner of the Alabama S. (G1), Mother Goose (G2) and Delaware H. (G2). Her second foal, a full brother to Collado Hueco, is a 2-year-old that has not yet started.
