Brody’s Cause filly goes gate-to-wire in MdSpWt win

Leading First-Crop sire Brody’s Cause got his latest winner on Sept. 14 when Sennebec Summer led from start to finish of a one-mile maiden special weight race for fillies at Presque Isle Downs.

The bay filly, who was up as much as four lengths at the midway point of the race, came to win comfortably by a length.

The winner is owned and trained by Cassondra Weaver and was bred by Spendthrift Farm. Sennebec Summer is the first foal out of stakes winner Appealing Cat, who has four stakes-winning siblings, three of them graded stakes winners.

Brody’s Cause is the top First-Crop sire by both black type horses and graded stakes horses. His first stakes winner came on Sept. 5 when Sittin On Go scored in the $200,000 Iroquois S. (G3) at Churchill Downs.
