Lael Stables came away with one of the top sellers during the first night of the Aug. 7-8 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearlings sale when Gretchen Jackson topped the bidding at $850,000 for the striking Into Mischief colt.

The price would ultimately be the third-highest paid during Monday’s session.

“I liked everything about him,” said Gretchen Jackson, who also raced Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Barbaro. “He’s pretty perfect. His conformation is excellent, his walk was athletic, and his pedigree is strong. We loved him.”

Warrendale Sales consigned the colt, hip No. 98. The bay is out of the stakes winner Victorious Ami, and is a half-brother to both Ami’s Holiday, a graded winner of nearly $800,000, and Ami’s Mesa, recent winner of the Ontario Matron (G3).

Into Mischief’s results continued right on until the final lot of the night, hip No. 112, consigned by Summerfield as agent for Stonestreet Farm, went for $500,000 to Kerri Radcliffe Bloodstock. Another striking bay, the youngster hails from the same family as top-class sprinter Chimes Band and Grade 1 winner Freefourinternet.

With four lots sold during the session for a total of $1,860,000, Into Mischief’s average was $410,000.
