Artemus Eagle wraps up stellar 2019 for Wicked Strong

December 31, 2019

Artemus Eagle’s allowance win Dec. 31 at Turfway Park gave the 2-year-old Wicked Strong colt his second win of the year and topped off an excellent 2019 for the Spendthrift Farm first-year sire (VIDEO).

Artermus Eagle is his sire’s eighth first-crop winner, the most for any Freshman Sire. His 26 overall winners on the year were just one behind the top spot for all sires.

A Ken and Sarah Ramsey homebred, Artemus Eagle won Tuesday’s one-mile contest by a length, coming from several lengths off the pace to win in hand. He broke his maiden at Keeneland on Oct. 25.

After breeding 131 mares in 2019, Wicked Strong will stand for $6,000 live foal, stands and nurses, for the 2020 season.
