Temple City’s Grade 1 winner Bolo drew post seven in a 14-horse field for Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) as he attempts to become the first Breeders’ Cup winner for his sire.

Bolo had his biggest win to date in this year’s Shoemaker Mile (G1), which put him on the cusp of $1 million in earnings. The 7-year-old has an excellent 4-1-2 record in 12 starts at the distance and five wins on the lawn at Santa Anita, site of this year’s race.

Bolo will get a new rider on Saturday, with Julien Leparoux replacing the injured Florent Geroux for trainer Carla Gaines. The Mile is race 9 with a post time of 3:20 PT.

Bolo and Annals of Time, who won the Sword Dancer S. (G1), have topped an excellent 2019 for Temple City. His progeny have won nearly 100 races and earned over $4.8 million to date this year.
