Bolt d’Oro colt battles to victory on “Big A” turf

October 13, 2022

Bolt d’Oro notched his 16th winner from his first crop on Oct. 13 when Chiringo rallied to win a six-furlong maiden special weight turf race at the Belmont at the Big A meet at Aqueduct.

Bolt d’Oro leads the First-Crop sire list by both stakes winners (4) and stakes horses (10) and is on of only three freshman sires with more than $1.5 million in progeny earnings. Spendthrift also announced on Thursday that his 2023 stud fee would be $35,000 S&N.

Chiringo, who was making his second lifetime start, tracked just behind the leaders before swinging off the fence coming into the stretch. He steadily gained ground and collared Listentothemusic in deep stretch, winning by a neck in 1:12.54 on the firm turf.

The winner is owned by Seaside Racing and Harrell Ventures, LLC, who purchased the dark bay for $260,000 out of this year’s OBS March 2-year-old sale.

Chiringo was bred by Sandra Sexton and is the second foal out of Street Love, who is a sister to King’s Bishop S. (G1) winner Capo Bastone.
