June 24, 2022

Arman overcame the outside post in a five-furlong maiden special weight race June 23 at Churchill Downs, sweeping past the field around the turn and into the stretch to win the $75,752 race by 2 ½-lengths.

The bay colt, the seventh winner for leading Freshman Sire Bolt d’Oro, was named a TDN Rising Star after completing the distance in a snappy :58.14.

Arman is owned by Kaleem Shah, who purchased the colt for $600,000 out of the 2022 OBS March 2-year-old sale.

“My team collectively loved the horse, so I decided to name him after my son,” Shah said on the FS2 ‘America’s Day at the Races’ broadcast.

The Florida-bred is out Beautissimo, an unraced half-sister to the stakes-winning and multiple graded-placed dirt router Two Thirty Five. This is the extended female family of champion Halfbridled. Beautissimo had a filly by Vino Rosso in 2021and was bred to Goldencents for 2022.
