Bolt d’Oro moves to top of First-Crop sire list

August 20, 2022

Mounsieur Coco rolled to a 6 ½-length maiden special weight win Saturday at Gulfstream Park to become Bolt d’Oro’s 12th winner from his first crop of runners.

Now with more than $760,000 in progeny earnings, Bolt d’Oro has moved into the top spot on the First-Crop Sire list. His dozen winners are the second-most for a freshman sire, as are his three stakes horses in 2022.

Mounsieur Coco never had an anxious moment in Saturday’s five-furlong race. He got away cleanly at the break and quickly established himself on the lead. He was up by two lengths midway on the turn, and continued to widen his margin the rest of the way, coasting under the wrapped up in :57.29 on the Tapeta surface.

The winner is owned by St. George Stable and was bred in Kentucky by Rose Hill Farm. Out of Cooking Mama, Mounsieur Coco is a half-brother to stakes winners Mojo Man and Fight to Glory.
