In a sale full of highlights for freshman sire Bolt d’Oro, the Spendthrift stallion had yet another during Friday’s closing session of the OBS Spring 2yo Sale when hip No. 1017 sold for $650,000.

The winning bidder was Keith Desormeaux, who was bidding on behalf of Ben Gase. The filly was consigned by de Meric Sale, agent.

“That’s the easiest buy I’ve ever made,” Desormeaux said. “She was awesome. I don’t have one complaint about her. We come to the 2-year-old-in-training sales because we can see them at work. We can see how they handle it mentally and physically. She just passed all the grades. She blew my socks off.”

The filly previously sold for just $35,000 at the 2021 Keeneland September sale.

Bred by Spendthrift Farm, the filly is out of Australian multiple stakes winner Scorpio Queen (Aus).

The subject filly was the top-priced female for Bolt d’Oro at the sale, surpassed only by a $675,000 colt that sold Thursday. Bolt d’Oro’s 2-year-old sale average is currently $260,677, second-highest among all First-Crop sires.
