Booth becomes Mitole’s first “TDN Rising Star”

October 7, 2023

Booth shot to the lead and never looked back as he rolled to a 5 ¼-length maiden special weight win Saturday at Keeneland.

The chestnut colt is Mitole’s 15th individual winner and his first TDN Rising Star. Mitole trails only fellow Spendthrift freshman sire Maximus Mischief on the First-Crop Sire list with $1,300,622 in progeny earnings.

Owned by William and Corinne Heiligbrodt, Jackpot Farm and Whispering Oaks Farm, Booth put two lengths on the field almost immediately and was never really threatened at any point of the six-furlong contest. He widened his margin in the stretch under a hand ride to finish in a solid 1:10.23.

The final time was 0.21 faster than what Yuugiri posted when winning the Thoroughbred Club of America S. (G2) earlier on the card.

Bred by Clearsky Farms, Booth is out of Sophia’s Song and is a half-brother to Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) winner Bright Future. This is also the family of champion Housebuster.
