Christian d’Oro goes gate-to-wire in stakes debut

January 30, 2023

Bolt d’Oro got his second stakes winner of the new year on Sunday when Christian d’Oro led all the way in the Borderplex S. at Sunland Park (WATCH RACE).

After finishing 2022 as the leading First-Crop sire, Bolt d’Oro is off to a hot start this year, already accounting for three stakes horses and seven winners in January. A pair of his 2-year-old stakes winners, Major Dude and Boppy O, are entered in stakes at Gulfstream Park this coming Saturday.

Christian d’Oro, a seven-length maiden winner in December, got plenty of pressure at nearly every point of call, but held off multiple challenges to win by a half-length over Foolish Delight to claim her first stakes win.

The winner is trained by Todd Fincher for G. Chris Coleman. Christian d’Oro, the lone reported foal out of Mary Sue Weloveyou, is 2-1-0 in three starts and has earned $66,300. She was bred in Kentucky by Ben D Farm.
