Dominating Woman scorches competition in Santa Anita MdSpWt

February 25, 2017

Dominating Woman registered one of the most impressive maiden special weight wins of 2017 on Feb. 25 at Santa Anita Park when the 3-year-old Dominus filly rolled to a 7 ½ length win in 1:22.68 for the seven furlongs (VIDEO).

Under a hand ride the entire trip, Dominating Woman nevertheless had the lead soon after the break. Clicking off fractions of :22.46 and :45.43 for the half-mile, she began to pull away from the field entering the stretch. Jockey Noberto Arroyo, Jr. glanced back repeatedly to look for any looming threats in the final furlong, and finding none, coasted under the wire the easiest of winners.

The winner is trained by Peter Miller for Gary Barber and was bred in Kentucky by Lopez, Maybee and Tennant. Dominating Woman is the first foal out of Wet n’ Reckless, who has a 2-year-old colt by Dominus’ fellow Spendthrift stallion Flat Out.

With two-time 2017 stakes winner Chanel’s Legacy his leading runner thus far this year, Dominus is currently a top-five sire on the Second-Crop Sires list.
