Everso Mischievous earned his first graded win in a big way Saturday at Aqueduct when the 3-year-old son of Into Mischief beat his older foes in the $300,000 Forty Niner S. (G2).

Into Mischief now has 14 graded winners and the earners of over $22.4 million to date in 2023. He has seven entries in next weekend’s Breeders’ Cup Championships, the most of any sire this year.

Everso Mischievous, winner of the $300,000 Harrod’s Creek S. Sept. 23 at Churchill Downs, had an almost identical stalking trip on Saturday. He sat second behind Swiftsure through a rapid half-mile in :45.89 before moving in tandem with Film Star to take a narrow lead. Accretive joined the battle turning for home to set up a dramatic finish. Everso Mischievous held the top spot down the lane, fighting off challenges from both sides to beat Dr Ardito to the wire in 1:35.32 for the mile on the fast track.

“He was perfect,” said rider Christian Torres. “The trip worked out perfect. When we were turning for home, I asked my horse and he took off again.”

Everso Mischievous now sports a record of 4-2-0 from six stars and has earned $524,640 for Qatar Racing. The bay colt originally sold for $600,000 at the 2021 Keeneland September sale. Bred by Clearsky Farms, Everso Mischievous has full yearling and 2-year-old siblings.
