Grade 1 winner Shakin It Up’s first colt through the ring at the Keeneland September Yearling sale brought a winning bid of $180,000, 36 times the stud fee for the Spendthrift stallion.

Padraig Campion’s Blanford Stud consigned the colt, hip No. 1709, which went to JSM Equine, LLC. He is out of multiple winner Lady Pomeroy, a half-sister to stakes winner Ladyecho and the Grade 2-placed Whatdreamsrmadeof, the dam Curalina, a three-time Grade 1 winner of more than $1.5 million.

Shakin It Up, whose first crop are yearlings of 2017, has 19 individuals in the remainder of the sale, which runs through Sept. 23.
