First yearling for Flat Out at Saratoga sale brings $150,000

August 9, 2016

A colt from the first crop of Spendthrift stallion Flat Out sold for $150,000, at the Aug. 8-9 Fasig Tipton Saratoga Yearling Sale, more than 17-times his 2016 live foal stud fee of $8,500.

The dark bay colt was cataloged as hip No. 125 and consigned by James Herbener, Jr. as agent for Graves and Lynch. Boomer Bloodstock was the winning bidder for the Kentucky-bred colt out of Prall Street, who has produced five winners to date, including Rattlesnake Bridge, winner of the Long Branch S. and runner-up in the Travers S. (G1).

Flat Out, who was bred to over 350 mares in his first three seasons at stud, was a three-time Grade 1 winner of $3.6 million who won or placed in 17 stakes in his stellar career.
