Flat Out colt game in first stakes win

Forewarned out-battled Fusaichi’s Wind to capture the $75,000 Cleveland Gold Cup by a head Saturday at Thistledown, the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old Flat Out colt (VIDEO).
Forewarned is one of Flat Out’s 30 winners who have earned more nearly $1.2 million this year, ranking in the top five on the Second-Crop Sire list.
Going 1 1/8-miles for the first time, Forewarned hustled from his outside post in the field of eight to secure a spot in second midway on the first turn. Never more than two lengths behind Fusaichi’s Wind at any point, Forewarned pulled alongside at the top of the stretch and eventually forged to the lead in the final sixteenth to pull out the win.
Owned by his breeder Preston Stables, Forewarned is now 2-2-0 in six starts and has earned $78,703. He is the first foal out of Fortune Play, a two-time stakes winner in Kentucky of $374,204.
