Flat Out’s second winner takes Belmont debut

June 29, 2017

Pacific Gale held off a late charge for She’s the Berries by a head on June 29 at Belmont Park to become the second winner for freshman sire Flat Out.

The winner’s game performance moved her sire up to the fourth spot on the 2017 Freshman Sire List and joins Bonneville Flats as his second maiden special weight winner.

Pacific Gale led nearly the entire five furlong trip, putting away History Supreme in the first half-mile before digging in to secure the victory.

Bred by Bally Breeders, the winner is from the same family as the four-time graded winner Top Secret. Pacific Gale was bought by her owner Tobey Morton for $72,000 at the 2017 OBS Spring 2-year-old sale.

Flat Out has been one of the most prolific sires of the past three years, covering over 500 mares in his first three years at stud.
