Frank’s Rockette thrashes foes in 2020 debut

February 22, 2020

Into Mischief’s multiple Grade 1-placed filly kicked off her 2020 campaign with a stellar performance in Saturday’s $75,000 Any Limit S. at Gulfstream Park, rolling to a seven-length victory in a very quick 1:09.51 for the six furlongs.

Running along very comfortably as she led the field of 3-year-old filly through a half-mile in :46.14, she easily shook off eventual runner-up Sound Machine (also by Into Mischief) at the top of the stretch and drew away convincingly under a hand ride from John Velazquez.

Frank’s Rockette was second in last year’s Frizette S. (G1), as well as the Spinaway S. (G1) and Adirondack S. (G2). Saturday’s win upped her record to 2-3-0 in five starts and earnings to $290,883.

“She’s pretty effective at those one-turn distances, and there’s a lot of opportunities for her up to a mile, I would say,” trainer Bill Mott said. “Just sitting here and thinking, you have the Acorn (G1). Is she that good? Well, we could always find out. You got some nice races at Saratoga. She could have a nice year at six and seven furlongs even if you didn’t stretch her out.”

The winner is owned by her breeder Frank Fletcher and is out of the Grade 3 winner Rocket Twentyone. She is the ninth stakes winner this year for Into Mischief, who sits atop the General Sire list once again, with progeny earnings over $2 million.
