Free Drop Maddy wins second consecutive stakes

Free Drop Maddy won her second stakes race in less than a month on Saturday at Fair Grounds with a game score in the $100,000 Louisiana Lassie S. (WATCH RACE).
The 2-year-old daughter of Free Drop Billy won her first added money race by 6 ¾-lengths on Nov. 18 over the same track in the Ferguson Memorial S.
Saturday’s contest would prove to be a more difficult task, but the bay filly showed her heart to get the win. She took the lead after the first quarter-mile and opened up by three lengths on the turn. After going wide into the stretch, Free Drop Maddy was straight through the stretch, holding off Norah G by a neck to finish the six furlongs in 1:11.66.
Free Drop Maddy now sports a record of 3-1-2 from six starts and has earned $225,800 for Mansfield Racing. She was bred by Clear Creek Stud LLC.
Free Drop Maddy, who broke her maiden in stake as well, sold to her owner for $200,000 as a yearling. With three stakes wins to her credit, she is the most accomplished runner from Free Drop Billy’s first crop. A Grade 1 winner at two, Free Drop Billy will stand the 2023 season at Spendthrift for $5,000.
