Goldencents celebrates Friday stakes double

September 4, 2020

Makingcents got her first stakes victory in the $150,000 Fleet Indian S. at Saratoga a little more than an hour after By My Standards won the Alysheba S. (G2) at Churchill Downs, giving leading Third-Crop sire Goldencents a pair of stakes winners on Friday afternoon.

Makingcents, a 3-year-old filly, had never made a stakes start until Friday. Sent to the lead from her inside post, she was pressed through six furlongs by Courageous Girl, then by Sharp Starr in upper stretch, and finally by Ice Princess in the final furlong, but held them all off to win by a neck in 1:50.31 for the nine furlongs on a fast track.

The winner now sports a record of 3-0-3 in six starts, with earnings of $169,820 for Richard Nicola’s Fortune Farm. Bred by Windhorse Thoroughbreds LLC, Makingcents is the second foal out of the stakes winner Swirlaway.
