Bano Solo became Goldencents’ third winner and first TDN Rising Star on Saturday at Churchill Downs when the $400,000 OBS March purchase rolled to a three-length victory in his career debut.

The bay colt had some company for the first three furlongs, but pulled away easily at the top of the stretch and was under a hand ride in the late stages as he finished the five furlongs in :59.08 seconds on a fast track.

Bano Solo is owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds and Willis Horton Racing. Bred by Pollock Farms in Kentucky, Bano Solo is out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Royale Paradise, whose dam Royale Michele won the Grade 2 Barbara Fritchie S.

Bano Solo was Goldencents’ top-selling 2-year-old colt during the spring auction season. Goldencents is the first Kentucky-based freshman stallion to register three winners and is one of only two First-Crop sires to have a TDN Rising Star.

The first major yearling sale of 2018 in the July 10th Fasig-Tipton sale, which includes eight lots by Goldencents in the one-day auction.
