Hit It a Bomb 2yo gets his first stakes win

May 3, 2021

Undefeated Hit Empenoso (ARG) won his stakes debut on April 30 in his home country at San Isisdro Racetrack in the Clasico Antartida at six furlongs on the turf.

The imposing bay 2-year-old is the fourth stakes horse for Hit It a Bomb, joining Grade 2 winner Weston, Grade 2-placed Miss Costa Rica, and multiple stakes-placed Tic Tic Tic Boom.

Hit Empenoso, who broke his maiden at first asking prior to Friday’s win, came from second before taking the lead with about two furlongs to run. He came home strongly to win by 1 ½-lengths in a good 1:11.96.

The winner was bred by Haras Firmamento and is out of the stakes-winning Giant’s Causeway mare Empenosa Top (ARG).

Hit It a Bomb was undefeated at two, winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1). The Second-Crop sire stands this year for $5,000 S&N.
