Hit It a Bomb filly captures prestigious Argentine Group 1

September 20, 2021

Hit Emerit (ARG) took the lead in upper stretch on her way to a one-length victory in the GP Seleccion de Portrancas (ARG-G1) on Sept. 19 at La Plata racetrack in Argentina.

The 3-year-old filly is one of three group stakes winners Hit It a Bomb has had in the southern hemisphere this year, joining Hit Tifon (ARG) and Hit It Dubai (ARG). Worldwide, Hit It a Bomb has nine stakes horses overall, ranking fourth on the Second-Crop sire list.

Hit Emerit was shuffled back between horses going into the first turn of the 2,000 meter (about 1 ¼-miles) race, then proceeded to make her way up through the back down the backstretch. With clear running on the final bend, she struck the front turning for home and held off a late charge to win by nearly one length over Sopa de Lima.

Hit Emerit was bred by Firmamento and has won two of her five starts for San Isidro Stable, with Saturday’s win the first stakes victory for the dark bay filly.
