As the first session of the OBS March Sale of 2-year-olds on training wound down, Hit It a Bomb had the most expensive lot by a first-crop sire at the sale when hip No. 63 brought a winning bid of $200,000.

The attractive bay had breezed a very quick furlong of :10 1/5 with a strong gallop out during the weekend under tack show.

Consigned by Harris Training Center LLC, agent, hip 63 was purchased by Meah/Lloyd Bloodstock. The Kentucky-bred is out of the stakes winner and graded stakes-placed mare Five Star Daydream. Her offspring includes the graded stakes-winning filly Gas Station Sushi, who is by Into Mischief.

Hit It a Bomb retired to Spendthrift Farm in 2017. His undefeated 2-year-old campaign was capped with a victory in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1), remaining as his sire War Front’s only Breeders’ Cup winner to date.

Hit It a Bomb stands for a fee of $5,000 live foal, stands and nurses, and is one of three Spendthrift stallions participating in the farm’s renowned Safe Bet program in 2020. For more information about Safe Bet, click here.
