Into Mischief picked up his 53rd lifetime TDN ‘Rising Star’ when Tommy Jo rolled to a 3 ¾-length maiden special weight win Saturday at Saratoga.

Tommy Jo as a yearling at Spendthrift Farm

Bred and raised by Spendthrift Farm, the 2-year-old filly was simply stellar in her debut race going six-furlongs on the dirt. After getting bumped soundly at the start, Tommy Jo was about four lengths off the lead down the backstretch. Going into the turn, she suddenly accelerated, swooping past horses and taking command before turning into the homestretch. In a flash, she opened up a four-length lead and coasted home, finishing up in 1:11.24 on fast track.

Tommy Jo was a part of the 2023 crop at Spendthrift. Sired by Into Mischief, she is out of the impressive multiple stakes winning Mother Mother. Bought by Spendthrift Farm at the 2020 Fasig-Tipton November Sale for $1,800,000, Mother Mother was also a debut winner who earned TDN ‘Rising Star’ honors who went on to place in multiple Grade 1 races. Tommy Jo is the second foal out of Mother Mother, who was bred to Vekoma for 2026.
