Hunka Burning Love cruises in Governor’s Cup

Hunka Burning Love, a 6-year-old son of leading sire Into Mischief, won his fifth straight main track start on Friday evening at Remington Park with a 6 ½-length victory in the $75,000 Governor’s Cup.

Since joining trainer Karl Broberg’s barn in late April, the bay Kentucky-bred’s only blemish has come in his lone turf start. Winner of the Lone Star Mile S. two starts back, Hunka Burning Love has now earned $399,180.

Hunka Burning Love is one of Into Mischief’s 22 stakes winner this year, which tops all sires worldwide by a wide margin.

With David Cabrera in the irons, Hunka Burning Love stalked in second before taking over the lead after six furlongs, then drew off easily to win as he pleased.

Hunka Burning Love was bred by Morris Floyd and Chuck Givens from the Thunder Gulch mare Touch of Fire.
