Impressive debut for Race Day filly

August 29, 2019

Campy Cash strolled to a five-length win her first career start Thursday at Delaware Park, drawing away to an eye-catching score in a 5 ½-furlong maiden special weight for 2-year-old fillies.

Her win gave her sire Race Day his seventh First-Crop winner, among the top 10 of all freshman sires.

Campy Cash got away from the gate very well and took the lead in the first sixteenth of a mile. The gray filly increased her lead around the turn as her rider looked back for the competition. With no serious threats, she pulled away on her own in the stretch to win in hand.

Campy Cash was bred by John Penn from the Distorted Humor mare Cash Reserve, who has produced five winners, including the stakes-placed colt Reckling and is herself a sister to stakes winner Sam’s Lord Caster and Golden Locket.
