Into Mischief fillies run 1-2 in Schuylerville S. (G3)

July 16, 2020

Into Mischief solidified himself as the nation’s leading sire of 2020 on Thursday when a pair of fillies by the Spendthrift Farm stallion filled out the top two spots in the Schuylerville S. (G3) at Saratoga.

Dayoutoftheoffice strolled to a six-length victory over Make Mischief, who bested the highly regarded Hopeful Princess by a length to take the runner-up spot.

Into Mischief now leads the General Sire list in virtually every category, including an astounding 18 stakes winners to date. He finished last year atop the list with a total of 23 stakes winners.

Dayoutoftheoffice was making her second lifetime start after breaking her maiden by nearly five lengths May 14 at Gulfstream Park. Away in good order, she was three-wide in third down the backstretch, with Make Mischief setting the pace. Dayoutoftheoffice moved for the lead entering the stretch, then quickly took command, drawing off late to get he six furlongs on 1:10.43 on a fast track.

“We knew there would be a lot of speed, but I thought if we could be third or fourth early, we’d have a big chance,” said trainer Tim Hamm, who is the winner’s co-owner along with breeder Siena Farm. “When I saw her coming into the turn laying third, I thought we had a shot. We got the trip we were hoping to get.”

Dayoutoftheoffice has earned $79,000 in her two victories.
