Into Mischief tops 2016 2-year-old sire list

January 8, 2017

Spendthrift Farm stallion Into Mischief had another outstanding season in 2016, finishing as the leading 2-year-old Sire in North America by winners and earnings.

His juvenile runners banked a total of $3,104,999, more than a half-million dollars than any other standing sire, while his 36 total winners were eight more than his nearest competitor.

Into Mischief’s 12 stakes horses and six stakes winners were topped by Practical Joke, who captured the Champagne S. (G1) and Hopeful S. (G1). The accomplished colt was also third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1).

With five crops of foals of racing age, Into Mischief ranks third on the cumulative Fifth-Crop Sire list, with three millionaires, 31 black type horses and nearly $18 million in progeny earnings. He will stand the 2017 season at Spendthrift for $75,000 live foal.
