Itsmyluckyday’s first winner scores big

June 30, 2018

Spendthrift Farm’s Grade 1 winner Itsmyluckyday was represented by his first winner on June 30 when the 2-year-old filly Cohenscollegefund sped to a 4 3/4-length win in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race at Evangeline Downs.

The chestnut filly, who was making her debut for owner Brooke Guidry, led after just a few jumps and never looked back, increasing her margin the entire way to stop the timer in :53.81 on a fast main track (VIDEO).

Bred in Louisiana by 4M Ranch, Cohenscollegefund is out of the Artax mare No More Tax and is a half-sister to two-time stakes winner Mr. Baker.

Itsmyluckyday was a top-class performer across all three of his racing campaigns, earning more than $1.7 million. A two-time listed winner at two, he would go on to capture the Holy Bull S. (G3) and finish second in both the Preakness (G1) and Florida Derby (G1) the next year. He was at his best at four, winning four stakes, including the Woodward S. (G1) and Salvator Mile (G3) before entering stud at Spendthrift in 2015.
