Jimmy Creed colt battles to victory in Singletary S.

May 6, 2018

Blame the Rider had to fight off a host of challengers in deep stretch to win the $100,000 Singletary S. by a head in a four-way photo over a firm turf course May 5 at Santa Anita Park [WATCH RACE].

The 3-year-old Jimmy Creed colt is undefeated in two starts on the turf and has earned $101,650 for Reddam Racing LLC. He is the sixth stakes horse this year for Jimmy Creed, who is third in this year’s Second-Crop Sire list.

Blame the Rider had to work the entire one-mile trip for his first stakes win. After going head-to-head for nearly seven furlongs with Afleet Ascent, then held off the late charges of both La La Land (IRE) and Move Over (GB) to get the mile in 1:34.65.

Blame the Rider is out of five-time stakes winner Shiny Sheet and sold for $320,000 at the 2017 OBS March 2-year-old sale to Dennis O’Neill, brother to trainer Doug.
