Jimmy Creed colt leads all the way in first stakes victory

August 1, 2022

Conagher rebuffed a pair of challengers at the top of the Colonial Downs stretch to win the $100,000 Housebuster S. on Aug. 1 by 2 ¼-lengths in what was the first stakes win for the 3-year-old son of Jimmy Creed.

Conagher was coming off a close second in the $300,000 Iowa Derby (his stakes debut) on July 9, and didn’t disappoint as the favorite in the seven-furlong Housebuster. He broke very sharply from his inside post and was closely hounded through by Exxel a half-mile in :44.85. Old Homestead got within a neck at the top of the stretch, when Conagher shook clear to win by daylight (WATCH RACE).

The final time was 1:21.42 on a fast track, just a half-second from the track record. His Beyer Speed Figure of 95 was the fourth straight race he’s achieved that number or higher. His 104 figure from a June allowance win, also at seven-furlongs, is the second-fastest at the distance by any 3-year-old in 2022.

Owned by Patricia’s Hope LLC and Mark Farrar, Conagher is 4-3-1 in nine starts and has earned $312,353. He was bred in Kentucky by La Bahia Stud.

Jimmy Creed, who stood for $10,000 this year and is a TDN Value Sire, is led in 2022 by Jaipur S. (G1) winner Casa Creed.
