Jimmy Creed’s first winner equals Gulfstream track record

Spendthrift Farm freshman sire Jimmy Creed, the Grade 1-winning son of Distorted Humor, sired his first winner on Wednesday when 2-year-old colt Admiral Jimmy impressively won at first asking in a $50,000 Maiden Special Weight race at Gulfstream, equaling the 4 ½-furlong track record in 51.07 seconds.

Trained by Todd Pletcher, the bay colt broke well and stalked the pacesetter into the turn before moving to the lead in the stretch and drawing clear under jockey Edgard Zayas. Admiral Jimmy’s final time of 51.07 over a fast local main track equaled that of multiple Graded stakes winner Awesome Banner, who set the mark back in 2015.

Bred and owned by Siena Farms, Admiral Jimmy earned $24,000 for the win. He hails from the young Bernardini mare Zayanna.

On the track, Jimmy Creed captured his biggest win as a 3-year-old in the seven-furlong Malibu S. (G1) at Santa Anita. He was a $900,000 yearling purchase by Spendthrift out of the Grade 1-winning and multiple Grade 1-producing Citidancer mare Hookedonthefeelin, who’s also the dam of Grade 1 winner Pussycat Doll and is a full sister to the dam of Grade 1 winner Midnight Lucky.
