Jimmy Creed’s King Jack earns 111 Beyer winning the Gallant Bob (G2)

King Jack earned his first graded stakes victory Saturday at Parx with a 1 ½-length win in the $300,000 Gallant Bob S. (G2).

King Jack earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 111 for Saturday six furlongs in 1:08.89, the second fastest figure of 2019 recorded by a 3-year-old.

Ridden by Joel Rosario, King Jack was to the outside of Landeskog through a quick half-mile in :44.60. He ranged up along side in upper stretch, then ran by the pacesetter in the final furlong to win going away.

“I thought Joel had him placed perfectly,” trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said. “They had some trouble in the gate early and we got lucky and got out of that. He had him placed perfectly and had enough horse to run him down. A very fast time…I like to be up close and we thought we would be up close. Looked like we had a lot of horse down the backside, and that proved to be true.”

Owned by Michael Stinson, the 3-year-old colt has won three of four starts, with a second to the highly-regarded Improbable in the Shared Belief S., and has earned $277,400.

King Jack was bred by Spendthrift Farm and is the first foal out of Light Shine, whose siblings include multiple graded winner Tar Heel Mom and graded winner Scrappy T.

Pedigree Notes:   King Jack becomes the 10th black-type winner (fourth graded) for third-crop sire Jimmy Creed, who hails from the Distorted Humor branch of the Mr. Prospector line. He’s the oldest foal for his unraced dam, who has 2-year-old colt Tapit’s Temple (Temple City), yearling filly Shining Cause (Brody’s Cause) and a colt born this year also by Brody’s Cause. King Jack’s dam is a half-sister to Tar Heel Mom (Flatter), winner of eight stakes, three of them graded including Saratoga’s GII Honorable Miss S., and placed in another 11, including the GI Ballerina S. She’s also a half to the infamous Scrappy T (Fit to Fight), a Grade III winner.
