Mitole’s hip No. 445 made a huge splash in the OBS Sales ring on Wednesday when the colt hammered for $725,000, one of the top five colts of the session.

Consigned by Eddie Woods and bred by Carolin Von Rosenberg, DVM, the dark bay went to Peter Fluor’s Speedway Stable.

“It was a little beyond where we had hoped he’d be. We are aware of the fact it is usually all or nothing,” said Fluor’s agent Marette Farrell of the purchase price.

“He had a flawless breeze and we just loved his gallop out,” Farrell added. “An obvious selling point was that he was by Mitole, who was the champion first-season sire last year.”

The son of Midnight Magic breezed :9.4 during Friday’s Under Tack session. The Florida-bred colt is a half-brother to Delaware Oaks (G3) winner Midnight Stroll and stakes-placed Atthecrossroads.

Mitole was the 2023 champion First-Crop sire and has gotten off to a hot start in 2024, already accounting for 15 individual winners, topped by the stakes-winning filly Halina’s Forte. Mitole stands for $15,000 S&N.
