$1 million Yaupon colt tops final session of OBS 2yo sale

A colt by Yaupon was the session-topper during the final day of the OBS March 2-year-olds in Training sale when the Three Amigos went to $1 million to acquire hip No. 576.
Consigned by Kings Equine, agent, and bred by Cam Ozbelge, Donato Lanni did the bidding on behalf of the winning owners. Trainer Jose D’Angelo had acquired the colt for $235,000 at last year’s Keeneland September sale.
“He will go to California,” Lanni confirmed. “He was beautiful and fast. And sound. He came out of the work very good. He was a horse that did everything well.”
The colt will be trained by Bob Baffert for the Three Amigos’ partnership of Mike Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman.
The bay colt is out of Balbina, a daughter of multiple graded winner Ready’s Gal. The Kentucky-bred worked a furlong during last week’s under-tack preview in :9 4/5.
Over the course of the three-day sale, Yaupon had eight lots sell for an average of $347,500, more than 11 times his bred-on stud fee and the highest for any Second-Crop sire of 2026.
